The Board of Directors for Claudy's House For Developmentally Challenged Adults has authorized that 10% of the proceeds from the Annual Flint Claudy's House Walk-A-Thon be awarded to a Flint Area Student in memory of Claudette Marie Bryant. The scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating female who excels academically, demonstrates leadership and is actively engaged in community service.
The recipient of this year’s Claudy’s House Scholarship is LaShauna Garrett. LaShauna graduated from Flint Northern High School with a 3.8 grade-point average.she was the president of Northern’s National Honor Society and served as vice president of the student council. LaShauna is involved in many extracurricular activities, works a part time job but most impressive is the fact that she logged more than 200 hours of community service over the last two years. In the fall, LaShauna will attend Central Michigan University to pursue a career in physical therapy. It is with pleasure that the Board of Directors for Claudy’s House for Developmentally Challenged Adults salutes LaShauna Garrett for her outstanding achievements and acknowledges her as the 2009 winner of the Claudy’s House Scholarship.
The Board of Directors wishes to thank the many volunteers who contributed time, support and monetary gifts to make the Flint Walk-A-Thon successful and the scholarship possible.
